A colonoscopy is one of the primary ways in which gastroenterologists examine the colon and the rectum.

Here, a colonoscope, which is a long, flexible tube with a camera attached to one end, is inserted into the rectum and passed through to the large intestine. During this process, it’s common for doctors to extract biopsies (small samples of tissue) and undertake polyp removal.

The team at Sydney Gut Clinic specialise in Colonoscopy and all other aspects of digestive health. The team of specialists are trained to perform surveillance colonoscopy and also interventional colonoscopies.
